LOrd of the Flies !
Lord Of The Flies by William Golding is a book about a group of boys who crash on an island without any adults. They have to survive and try to keep structure, but it doesn't end up working out. We did a fake trial to figure out who killed Piggy and Siimon, in which I was a juror. I also wrote an essay about evil in the book///

Publishing Project.

TITLE: His Little Whispers.
AUTHOR: Carley Watts.
GENRE: Fantasy.
PAGES: 4.
MENTOR TEXTS: Monsters Inc. -

Monsters Inc. is also about a monster who is really nice at heart, but has to pretend to be mean and scary for his job. He has a to hide a child, and he starts to really like her.
THE WRITING PROCESS: First I brainstormed and thought of a story idea, then asked people for things to add to the plot. I got the idea for the monster to not be accepted by the humans in the human community from that process. Then I wrote my first draft, and had my peers critique it. Some of the feedback I got said that I should describe the character and setting more. I took that into consideration and then typed up my second draft with those changes, and sent it to Ms. Staff. After she told me what to change, I edited it and made some little revisions for my final draft.
THE PUBLISHING PROCESS: Arielle and I decided to publish our stories together since they are both about monsters. We binded them together and laminated it. Since we wrote children's stories we chose younger children, and elementary school children for our audience. We read to the 6th graders here. We may also go down to Explorer and read to the kids there.

Book Celebration
For the Book Celebration I read Go Ask Alice by Anonymous. It was supposedly the real journal of a 15 year old girl who struggles with drugs. I represented the book with a poster that I cut into puzzle pieces. It included the following components.

FEATURECAST FROM THE PAST :D!
In the Featurecast From The Past project I researched The Great Depression with my partner Justin, and individually created a podcast interview with Franklin Delano Roosevelt, who was preseident during the time.
purpose:The purpose of the featurecast from the past project was to understand the difference between cause/effect relationships and correlations. To understand how and why major events in history are connected and intertwined. To research a major event from US history in order to understand why it is significant and how it relates to other major events. To understand features of a feature articla and podcast and be able to create a feature article or podcast about your major event in history.
requirements:The requirements for this project were to present the 5 w's (who, what, when, where, why) of your major event to the class. To write, peer edit, and revise either a feature article or podcast script. To have at least three drafts in your writing portfolio. To present a polished version of your feature article or podcast on Media Night, as well as posting it online to our team featurecast from the past web page.
specific concepts learned:
1. I learned all about FDR. He was president in the deepest years of the Great Depression, and helped the US out of mass poverty with the New Deal Plan.
2. The Great Depression had a correlation with The Holocaust, which was that many people suffered, starved, and died.
challenges:One challenge that I faced during this project was problems with Garageband, recording, and saving my podcast. I didn't really overcome this challenge, but if I thought about it more and asked about what I should do, I could have just read my podcast live during Media Night. Another thing I had trouble with thruoghout this project was time management, and turning in specific components on time. Towards the end of this project I started taking it more seriously and spending my project time more productively.
real-world significance:The real-world significance of learning about major events in history and how they are related is that we can learn from the bad ones and not repeat the same mistakes so things like that don't happen again, and we can repeat the things that worked out. The real-world importance of creating feature articles is that you have the knowledge of how to be a writer, or specifically a newspaper journalist. The knowledge of how to create a podcast could help you create more, and get your opinions out about certain subjects, and use your gained interveiwing skills.

Querencia Clipboard:]
The Querencia Clipboard was a project in Humanities where we chose a querencia, wrote about it using sensory details, and represented it on a clipboard with the writing we did on the back. The querencia I chose was music. I represented it on my clipboard with itunes giftcards and inspirational quotes from some of my favorite artists.

My Querencia<3
"No Lies, Just Love." - Conor Oberst.
I am Home,
in a place where the sun is always shining
and you have no worries,
like a Bob Marley song.
Alone on my roof,
I put headphones in my ears.
I am safe here.
Listening to the lyrics and beats and passion.
The music takes me away.
Away from my problems,
away from the quiet.
I allow myself to think deeply,
and feel the wind.
Looking up at the dark star-spotted sky,
I think of how I wish life is.
Here everything is how it should be.
Songs of love and happiness fill my ears and soul.
Getting lost in the words and sounds.
This is my home.:)
